What we test for
Typical work
- Feature work inside large Angular applications
- Upgrades from AngularJS or old Angular versions
- State and data flow with RxJS or signals
- Performance: change detection, bundle size, lazy routes
The coding test
Build a feature module with a reactive form, an HTTP service with error handling and unit tests, then fix a change-detection problem that re-renders a list on every keystroke. Scored on module design, RxJS use and tests.
Five interview questions you can reuse
We use questions like these in our soft-skills and technical rounds. Steal them for your own interviews.
When do you use OnPush change detection, and what breaks with it?
A strong answer covers: Immutable inputs, observables through the async pipe, markForCheck when something changes outside Angular; mutating an object in place stops updating the view.
How do you avoid memory leaks with RxJS subscriptions?
A strong answer covers: The async pipe where possible, takeUntil or takeUntilDestroyed, unsubscribing in ngOnDestroy, and never nesting subscribes.
Reactive forms or template-driven, and why?
A strong answer covers: Reactive for anything with validation or dynamic fields: typed, testable and explicit; template-driven only for trivial cases.
How do you upgrade an app that is four Angular versions behind?
A strong answer covers: One major at a time with ng update, reading each migration guide, green tests between steps, third-party dependencies checked first.
What makes an Angular code base hard to work in?
A strong answer covers: God services, business logic inside components, unclear module boundaries and no tests around the data layer.
